Instead, it throws you a blank canvas and says, "start painting." The game is short, sweet, and very easily replayable.
It doesn't question your intelligence by constantly pointing you in the right direction. In the first Portal there were so many ways you could complete the levels and that's what made it truly fun to play. The game ends up becoming, "find the white panel and put your portal on it." They mix it up later on with the gels and the reflection cubes and that's about it. The puzzles in Portal 2 weren't challenging in the slightest. It's a puzzle game, and that's where it fell flat for me. I grew up with adventure games so I'm used to dialogue and characters being the priority, however Portal 2 is not an adventure game. Normally, I would be completely satisfied with this.
